Facility Highlight:  Mira Loma

Image result for union pacific auto racks trainMira Loma has been making great progress with their damage numbers.  For the first time, the Union Pacific had the lowest damage numbers of any of the railroads with a .07%. This translates as 99.93% of the cars delivered in April were damage-free. Mira Loma played a great role in this accomplishment. In addition, Mira Loma continues to improve monthly and maintains a downward damage trend. In two months, the Mira Loma facility successfully brought down their Toyota damages from 219 in February to an impressive 28 in April! Another great accomplishment Mira Loma achieved was bringing the destination damages for Toyota down from 202 in February to 12 in April. This facility has made a tremendous improvement since the beginning of this year. Through strong commitment, awareness, and maintaining a healthy number of crewmembers, the Mira Loma team looks to continue making great progress. Great job team Mira Loma!

 

Manager Highlight: Mitch Mallon 

Mitch Mallon, the Operations Manager of the Inter-Rail Kansas City- Argentine facility, is the highlight manager of May. Mitch has been employed with Inter-Rail for over three years. His outstanding dedication and perseverance has enabled him to climb the ladder in his many roles with the company. Mitch initially was hired as an Unloader/Loader in training, which is an entry-level position. Next, he quickly progressed into a full-time Loader/Unloader, and then to a Supervisor. Soon after, he was promoted to the train crew, where he served as a Conductor. After many dedicated hours of training and hard work, Mitch became an Engineer. Because of his work ethic and strong leadership skills, Mitch soon was promoted to Yard Master, and shortly after, Assistant Manager. Mitch did not stop there. In fact, he later became the Operations Manager of the Kansas City- Argentine facility. He has been in this role for eight months. Mitch handles fifty-five crew members. Mitch and his crew unload, load, shuttle, switch, and also handle two off-site shuttling/ overflow properties. Mitch Mallon has been at the forefront of the positive transformation at the Kansas City- Argentine facility. Mitch remains dedicated to not only to Inter-Rail, but also his family at home. Thank you for your dedication, hard work and perseverance Mitch. Keep up the great work!

 

Crew Member Highlight: Mario Rincon, Team Miami

Mario Rincon started with Inter-Rail on August 23, 2017 and has been a great asset to not only team Miami, but to Inter-Rail as a whole. At the Miami facility, Mario is a Supervisor and also a Trainer. Mario has always put forth maximum effort into learning the job and performing it to the best of his ability. Mario’s leadership skills are superior, and his dedication to safety in the facility is outstanding. In addition to his work in Miami, Mario unselfishly accepted the challenge to travel to different facilities to assist in any way possible. The support of his family is appreciated as well. Mario has shown his mastery and dedication to the facilities he has visited. “I would honestly keep him if I could” said DJ Hockett, Operations Manager-Mira Loma. Steve Hockett, VP of West Coast Operations, described Mario’s work ethic as “going above and beyond every day that he was there.” These statements are a true testament to the kind of hard working, dedicated, unselfish, motivated, focused, and overall genuine individual that Mario has proven to be.
